Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

Someone called Andrew Bolt is in the news today for apparently attacking Greta Thunberg, the teenage climate change campaigner (who, I was surprised to note) has not been mentioned on this forum before - at least searching for "Thunberg" gives no results).

Unfortunately Bolt's column is behind a paywall, so I can't see exactly what he said, beyond his opening few paragraphs, which include:

"No teenager is more freakishly influential than Greta Thunberg, the deeply disturbed messiah of the global warming movement.

...

I have never seen a girl so young and with so many mental disorders treated by so many adults as a guru."

So, Thunberg - a force for much-needed change, or a mentally ill "pig-tailed soothsayer". Or something else?

need help diagnosing my hardware problem

Thanks to everyone who made it this far into the thread.

Yesterday, my tower PC quit from one second to the next.
If I give it a few minutes break, it'll boot up again to login, and perhaps a few seconds past that (no Windows Recovery prompt) before just switching off completely again.
I haven't noticed any heat issues. Going into BIOS setup works.

The machine is ten years old or so, so maybe the thermal paste on the CPU could use some freshen-up, but otherwise I have no clue what could have suddenly gone wrong (again, I very much doubt it's a software issue).

thanks again, let me know what you think I could check/replace.

Is excessive vehicle speeding actually Attempted Murder?

"Inchoate offense" has been defined as the following: "Conduct deemed criminal without actual harm being done, provided that the harm that would have occurred is one the law tries to prevent."

Every inchoate crime or offense must have the mens rea of intent or of recklessness.

Instead of those weaving in-and-out-of-traffic Highspeed drivers (doing 110MPH in a 65 area) being charged or just ticketed with 'excessive speed' how come there isn't prosecution for felony attempted murder?

FBI: Conspiracy theories are the new terror threat

Exclusive: FBI document warns conspiracy theories are a new domestic terrorism threat

The FBI intelligence bulletin from the bureau’s Phoenix field office, dated May 30, 2019, describes “conspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists,” as a growing threat, and notes that it is the first such report to do so. It lists a number of arrests, including some that haven’t been publicized, related to violent incidents motivated by fringe beliefs.

The document specifically mentions QAnon, a shadowy network that believes in a deep state conspiracy against President Trump, and Pizzagate, the theory that a pedophile ring including Clinton associates was being run out of the basement of a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant (which didn’t actually have a basement).

“The FBI assesses these conspiracy theories very likely will emerge, spread, and evolve in the modern information marketplace, occasionally driving both groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent acts,” the document states. It also goes on to say the FBI believes conspiracy theory-driven extremists are likely to increase during the 2020 presidential election cycle.

The FBI said another factor driving the intensity of this threat is “the uncovering of real conspiracies or cover-ups involving illegal, harmful, or unconstitutional activities by government officials or leading political figures.” The FBI does not specify which political leaders or which cover-ups it was referring to.

President Trump is mentioned by name briefly in the latest FBI document, which notes that the origins of QAnon is the conspiratorial belief that “Q,” allegedly a government official, “posts classified information online to reveal a covert effort, led by President Trump, to dismantle a conspiracy involving ‘deep state’ actors and global elites allegedly engaged in an international child sex trafficking ring.”

This recent intelligence bulletin comes as the FBI is facing pressure to explain who it considers an extremist, and how the government prosecutes domestic terrorists. In recent weeks the FBI director has addressed domestic terrorism multiple times but did not publicly mention this new conspiracy theorist threat.

The FBI is already under fire for its approach to domestic extremism. In a contentious hearing last week before the Senate Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray faced criticism from Democrats who said the bureau was not focusing enough on white supremacist violence. “The term ‘white supremacist,’ ‘white nationalist’ is not included in your statement to the committee when you talk about threats to America,” Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., said. “There is a reference to racism, which I think probably was meant to include that, but nothing more specific.”...

FBI faked killing of John Dillinger;Body Exhumed for tests...

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...amily-n1038371

This conspiracy theory has been around for quite a while;almost no historians of the 1930's give it credence.
But I would bet, even if the tests show beyond reasonable doubt it is the body of John Dillinger, the conspiracy theory will not die. The True Beleivers are sort of immune to facts.

He says the group of about 15 "kids" yelled "******* Trump" and stomped on him. One of them smashed his head into a scaffold. Turan says he suffered a fracture in his cheek and a badly swollen eye. He's awaiting an eye specialist to determine if there is any permanent damage to his sight.
