Does anyone actually care who the Presidential running mates are?

Apparently will be announced in the next few days

Obviously if Clinton goes an all female it will create interest for novelty, but from watching over here (maybe different there) the running mate is named, election happens, the new VP just disappears off the radar for 5 years
