Has anyone used Instagram to sell items?

I have read about a few success stories, and am curious. I have several hundred pieces of vintage jewelry that I have wanted to sell, and I have put off the daunting task for too long. Etsy worked OK for awhile, but I want to try something else. Does anyone have experience, or suggestions? Thanks.
