Culture, nationality and the fear of ghosts

I have a Mexican acquaintence who has a morbid fear of ghosts. He will not visit a house where antiques are sold because it is supposed to be haunted. He will not partonise a bar in a historic building because of ghosts.



Is this part of Mexican culture? He is very sincere.
