Seeds from WW2 Japan

My Dad was in the Australian occupation forces in Japan after Hiroshima.



He brought back some containers amongst other things, and one of the containers has some seeds in it.

Would the seeds still be viable? I planted a few of the non-dull-looking ones on Monday as an experiment.



Also, does anyone know what type of plant they might be from?
