UK F35 Fighters to be Serviced in Turkey

This BBC story caught my eye:

Quote:

Security concerns have been raised about plans to carry out major servicing work on the UK's new F-35 fighter jets in Turkey.

SNP MP George Kerevan is to call for an inquiry into the policy in the light of last year's attempted coup in Turkey and tensions with its Nato partners.
It seems that the US Department of Defense has identified Turkey as the service centre for the whole of Europe. While it may make sense to have a single centre, I question the wisdom of having it in such a a volatile country. Sure, labour rates may be lower and this may be a way to reward/bribe Turkey for remaining in NATO and helping in the fight against ISIS but I'd have thought that concerns over Turkey's stability would have overridden other concerns.
