Internet Worst Invention Ever? You Decide!

Before I get started I should probably point out that I really love the Internet. It has allowed me to game with others across the globe even if if I don't know anyone locally that plays the same game as I do. It allows families to stay in contact even after they go far apart. It can even save lives.

But let's face facts, the Internet is often times the worst invention in the history of humanity. It is frequently the breeding grounds of stupidity because certain special interest groups pushing woo can create a vacuum chamber that insulates them from critical scrutiny, it gives voices to vermin such as Hamas that shouldn't have a voice and allows them to heard by people halfway across the globe, and it can be used to torment people in new and insidious ways.

But now, it gets worse:

On Friday, Facebook went down for a hot, miserable minute, preventing innocent people from arguing with casual acquaintances of distant relatives about Libertarianism. Of course people called 911 when that happened. Of course they did. If you are shocked by this, then congratulations on your first day on the Internet. Needless to say, the police were not thrilled, according to the Los Angeles Times.

I'm sorry, but did I fall into a rip in the space time continuum and wake up back in the days where people were freaking out over Skynet Y2K?

At what point did it become impossible for people to survive without checking the latest Facebook post of the not-so-grand adventures of all the Mary Sues of the world?

Sometimes I really hate the Internet. What are y'all's thoughts?
