Rather than make ex-cathedra announcements without explanation, I think it would be good to understand why the forum is being eliminated. The hostility toward the forum (from both public and private sources that indicated sheer contempt for both the forum and its members) has been evident for some time, but I simply do not see the reason for the hostility.
I think the forum has been one of the better educational resources, especially for third parties who were trying to sort out their worldview. Disassociating it seems exactly counter to the 'E' in JREF to me.
So, how about an official voice with some explanation?
