Don't feed the animals

You've probably seen signs in parks or places like that warning people not to feed the pigeons or other wild animals.

In my own neighborhood in Yokohama there's a problem with people who feed feral cats, and there's a large population of them living near the train station.

There's signs warning people not to do it and probably some sort of ordinance but I've seen people do it anyway, often one particular old lady.

In Florida now it seems the same logic has been extended to feeding homeless people!

Florida Police Arrest 90-Year-Old, Two Pastors for Feeding Homeless

Quote:

Fort Lauderdale police are finally cracking down on the city's notoriously destructive ministers and charitable volunteers:

Fort Lauderdale police charged three men -- including two pastors and a 90-year-old man -- for feeding the homeless in public on Sunday, the first such cases made by the city after the a new ordinance effectively banning public food sharings took effect Friday.

The incident was caught on video, linked above at Florida station WPLG. The ordinance under which the men were arrested is one of a number of new Fort Lauderdale city rules related to homelessness. From South Florida's Sun Sentinel:

The ordinance, approved by the city commission Oct. 22, is one of several recent efforts by officials to crack down on the city's burgeoning downtown homeless population

I guess if you feed them they will multiply and become a public nuisance. Pests.
