How in blazes do I find a "line of best fit" in Excel?

Full disclosure - I have never used Microsoft Excel before, nor have I ever taken Statistics 101.

I'm taking this online Computer 101 class (I've mentioned it on here before), and the teacher literally doesn't teach us anything. He just gives us an assignment each week and we do the research and put it together on our own. So the past five weeks have all been based in Word and/or PowerPoint, which I'd used many times previously, so no problem. But this week is an Excel assignment. And not only do I not know how to use it, I don't even understand what I'm supposed to be doing because it's based around math I don't understand. We are supposed to find the "Line of Best Fit." There's a bunch of numbers and sigmas. Uh, I'll post a screen shot of the template if need be.

But my question is this - I emailed the prof and told him I was lost, and he took 3 days to get back to me, and when he did, the message was just this, "Just search online for tutorials. If you do take Stats 101 in the future, this assignment will be very helpful!" Psssh. Thanks a lot! Money hard at work.

So I googled for tutorials, and all of the ones dealing with this line of best fit stuff seem to be quite old, much older versions of Excel, and none of them mention the "commands" we were told to use. Those instructions said, "Commands that you will need will be: sum command, multiplication of one cell and another, sqrt, and any others needed to complete the assignment. The if command would allow you to make the spreadsheet a bit more user friendly, but is not needed."

Can anyone give me an idiot-friendly source that can help me decode what this all means? I'm starting to panic. Thanks.
