The Hobbit “A travesty” say's the BBC, and I agree!

I bought “The Hobbit” back in 1976 ish, having read “Lord of the Rings” about a year or so earlier.

This was a fantastic tale, one, I thought which needed to be brought to the the screen.

My daughter also read both “The Hobbit”, and Lord of the Rings, but we disagreed on what should

have been allowed, outside of the strict text of the “Rings”, I always maintained that it should always have been strictly, “by the book”, ….. she gave room for poetic license.

Having seen the first two parts of “Hobbit”, the wonderful Smaug not withstanding, I have to agree with the BBC, and their critical analysis, that the "Battle of the five Armies"; will probably be a flop.

BBC.

“The Battle of the Five Armies is a success, because it stands as an ornate bridge between The Hobbit and the The Lord of the Rings. But as a stand-alone film, it’s not very compelling. And as an adaptation of Tolkien’s charming book, it’s a travesty”.

BBC

“If you love the sight of computer-generated warriors charging at each other, you’ll have nothing to complain about. But if you don’t, then the continual fighting does start to get numbing after an hour or so. When you’ve seen one orc getting its head lopped off, you’ve seen ‘em all”:
