Just for fun I visited the Loose Change Forums. (no link because I discourage you from wasting your time)
I note that the last post was made in Sept, 2014.
According to the stats listed on their main page, viewership peaked on Sept 11, 2011.
All is as it should be.
As for Dylan Avery, the centerpiece of the LC phenomenon? There's a fascinating piece on him from April 2014 in Vocativ.com titled 'The Rapid Rise and Fall of Dylan Avery'
In it, Avery explains how he became disenchanted with the whole conspiracist world. 'You spend all day, every day with people hating you, telling you that you should die, saying youre worthless, Avery explains. All these things about you that you know arent true. But you hear them enough times, and you might start to believe them...' Add to that attacks from truthers ' some in the movement accused him of working for the government, conducting a disinformation campaign to discredit Truthers'
At age 21 he was an internet sensation. At 30, 'he scrapes by as a freelancer. I look for gigs on Craigslist, Avery told me. Ill edit a trailer for $100 because that will buy food.'
What does he think about the movement? 'Its a dark, dangerous world, the world of conspiracy. You make a commitment and either stick with it to the very end, or you dont. Its easy to get sucked in, and really hard to get sucked back out.'
Does he believe that GW Bush planned 9/11? 'f you asked if the Bush administration planned the attacks, I would have said, **** yeah.
But now?
I dont think Bush could plan a bowl of cereal, he says.'
Karma's a bitch. The most tragic part for me is how so many Liberal eggheads abused their positions of authority to create a witch-hunt on their own country and government, further undermining trust in the whole system of democracy and science. People like Dr Jones, Harrit, Griffin, Richard Gage et al. have betrayed a generation of young people by telling them it's all a lie, that nobody can be trusted, and that the whole system is corrupt. They, like Dylan Avery, deserve to be exposed, criticized and chastised for their actions and statements. It may be hard on them, but it's a small price to pay for the wrongs they have done collectively, IMO.
