I can see the point of stopping takeoff if the engine has fallen off again or a wing mirror is missing, or if there's a life-or-death scenario involving a transplant organ.
Lack of food: yeah I can see that might be important.
But replacing a staff member because- - presentation?
The pilot is going to disagree with the daughter of the airline's boss?
