Flying back into London a couple of days ago, I experienced an odd phenomenon.
We were on our descent at night and low enough to see the lights of cars on the road, individual houses etc, I dont know what height that would be in feet. We seemed to be flying level, as I could see lights out of both sides of the plane and there was no discernable lean on the plane. The moon however seemed to be below us as I felt like I was looking down on it. As far as I could tell, it wasnt a reflection.
Does anyone have any idea how this optical illusion occurred? Google doesnt come back with anything useful.
