Hi.
I saw this:
http://ift.tt/1vPJpQ8
It points out how that rates of diabetes in Native American, and also in other world populations, were much lower before the modern processed-food Western diet and lifestyle was added. Is this correct? If this is correct, then it seems that if we could change our diet, we could save a crapton on healthcare costs and stop lots of health-related suffering.
What can be done? Should sugar be taxed? Should our health care discussions be focused much more around preventative measures and not just treatments? E.g. for the US, Obama tried to get medical treatment more available, but what about prevention? Can we create a system where we can get everyone a diet so as to make rates of diabetes and other such diseases low again in the modern world?
