"Could you please italicize the periods?"

The subject line was taken verbatim from an email sent to me by a period who has just received a digitized document I had converted for him. I wrote back and said they were italicized. He replied that he had thought so too, but when he looked at the code he noticed that the periods were outside the tags. He wanted them inside the tags so they would be "officially" italicized. Given that this was free work on my part I felt I would be justified in inviting him to go to Tartarus and wait for the changes. However, I just did a global search and replace and that made him happy.



Anybody run into anything like that while digitizing, or am I only one who knows crazy people?
