P value, 5x10e-5, pretty worthless ?

I'm looking at a list of gene associations for hypertension.

Am I interpreting correctly, that a 5x10e-5 is 100 times more significant than a e-7? I did figure that 10e-5 means ten to the minus five place, or .00005. (eta a thought on the use f scientific notation- what is the use of the notation, when it uses six digits anyway? oh well.)

And overall, even the strongest correlation of a SNP to Hypertension is the e-5, so today's state of genomics is pretty worthless so far as hypertension goes?

Here is a link to that site- http://ift.tt/1BloVjZ You may have to type "hypertension" in the blank place for disease.

They do only have data on 44,000 SNPs, of a potential 700,000 that vary between people. More is coming, only a couple weeks ago the gene and health data of 78,000 people were added. That is 5.5 billion more data points. Stand by for the next revolution in medicine.
