Turing Pharmaceuticals bought the rights to Daraprim, a drug that treats toxoplasmosis, and as a result, a treatment for a common parasite that attacks people with weakened immune systems increased in cost 5,000% [from $13.50] to $750 per pill. This means that the annual cost of treatment will be at least $336,000, or as much as $634,000.

When questioned by a journalist, the CEO of Turing responded "I don't expect the likes of you to process [the price increase]," and, "You are such a moron."

But I guess that's the free market in healthcare working the way it's supposed to.

Yay!
