Anti-BIG WORD people...

One of my bosses approached me once and said "Some of the others are complaining about you using big words so much." My reply was "Tell me the words you don't know and I won't use them."

I bring this up because I'm sort of transitioning to Japanese when discussing certain aspects of my work on WWII. This seems to have infuriated people even further, including more than one academic. I consider it just part of being more accessible to a segment of people I deal with regularly, Japanese students of the war.

Anywho, have any of you run into this problem before? And, besides the obvious solution of slapping the taste out of their mouths, did you find a resolution that worked for everyone?
