You get up one morning and notice a curious lump under one armpit. Over the next week the lump grows. You make an apt. with the doctor. He examines the lump and sends you to the hospital for a biopsy.
You know the rest of the story. You’re going to die.
And my question to you is this:
So what?
Whats the big deal? What is this urge called survival and what is it really all about?
Go into any crowded room and look around. The reality is that every single person in that room will soon be dead. That is a realization we do not think much about but it is something we should.
In really understanding survival and life and death, we can better come to the reality of who you and I really are.
Think about it:
At one time in the earth’s history, the earth was a sterile, molten rock. Now this planet is covered in people. In short this proves that the universe peoples. (to quote Allen Watts). It literally has the ability to turn a dead planet into a live one,,,all on its own….. But how did it people.? life evolved by improving and mutating over billions of years. But evolution is totally based on a strange phenomenon called survival.
Thanks to survival, single celled organisms evolved into people. Thanks to survival there exists consciousness. Therefore, this strange phenomenon called survival is hardwired into everything we are.
But when you think about it, survival is a crazy process. As individuals we strive to survive, but we never accomplish our goal.
And this fact tells us something as profound as it gets. It tells us who we really are.
Things that are real do not come from nothing and disappear into nothing. Things that are real do not base themselves on a process called survival that they can never win. Its all the ultimate illusion. And survival, that trick placed upon us is the ultimate proof of that illusion.
To really understand who we are, we must trace our roots back as far as we can. And if we do we go way past a molten rock called earth, we go back to the ultimate past,,,,a past with no beginning and no end….the universe itself.
No my friends, you are not you. The you that never survives….You are the you that always survives…. You are a universe that peoples and a universe that forms consciousness out of a hypnosis called survival. And this means that there exists no cancer that can end you, no knife deep enough.
So , one day when you’re sitting in the doctors office and you get the bad news with that solemn look…surprise him. Have a laugh. Laugh like you’ve never laughed before. Enjoy the look of shock on his face and feel sorry for him. For it is only you that knows where you’re really going. The same place you’ve gone an infinite number of times before.
